CMS recently updated the process for retrieving forgotten user IDs and passwords for the Identity & Access Management (I&A) system. I&A controls access to the Medicare enrollment system PECOS, the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and EHR Incentive Programs. Forgotten user IDs and passwords can now be retrieved or reset online without calling the External User Service (EUS) Helpdesk. When resetting your password, you will now have the option to answer three of your security questions or enter personal information. If you need to retrieve a forgotten user ID, you can have it sent to your on-file email address or enter personal information and have it displayed on screen. This more streamlined process is designed to alleviate demand for the EUS helpdesk and decrease wait times.
