The House of Representatives passed by voice vote H.R. 4302, which would temporarily delay the 24% cut to Medicare physician payments resulting from the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula for one year. Many physicians organizations, such as the American Medical Association and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), have joined the effort to continue to advocate for a permanent SGR fix, and does not support what would be the 17th short-term patch Congress has enacted since the SGR’s inception.
